Back Up Ring

Also known as Anti-Extrusion rings.  A back up ring holds an elastomeric seal to its designed shape and in its correct place.  Back up rings are commonly used with o rings.

Available in the following profiles

Split – It can be used in static or dynamic applications with reciprocating and rotating movements possible. Preferred for installations in closed grooves where uncut Back-up Rings are not suitable.

Solid –  It can be used in static or dynamic applications with reciprocating and rotating movements possible.

Spiral –  It consists of standard two spiral windings which are cut at the ends at an angle. It can be used in static or dynamic applications with reciprocating movements possible. Preferred for installations in closed grooves where uncut Back-up Rings are not suitable. It can compensate large temperature changes and tolerances through a screw-like elongation and contraction.

Concave – The large contact surface protects the O-Ring against deformation in case of high pulsating pressures. Preferred for installations in a closed groove where uncut Back-up Rings are not suitable.
